Leaked A6100 Specs & Image?
Now that the A7R II has been released, our attentions can once again turn to what Sony will do next. A common thought is that the A6000 is the next camera due for an upgrade.
Today, some specs and even an image surfaced, which could possibly be the new A6100. It could also be a fake. Here is the image; you can decide for yourself.
Rumored A6100 Specs
- 24.3 MP sensor (different from A6000)
- Tri-Navi control system
- Mag. alloy body
- 1/32000 electronic shutter
- 4K Video (10 min limit)
- No IBIS
- No weather seal
- Announcement in 2-3 weeks
- Body only price is expected around 900 USD
As you can see, according to these specs, the next A6000 series body will not have image stabilization or weather sealing, but it will include an upgrade in the video department to 4K with a 10 minute clip limit. It also mentions a 24.3MP sensor, the same resolution, but different from the current one in the A6000.
If I had to guess, I would think it probably utilizes that new stacked BSI sensor technology that Sony has implemented in the RX100 M4, RX10 II, and A7R II. It is also possible that it’s just a normal CMOS sensor, but I find that unlikely.
There was a rumor going around that Sony will be cutting back on its APS-C offerings, instead, focusing on its FE (Full Frame E-Mount) offerings and developing those. These specs are not as impressive as we would have liked to see from a camera in the A6000 series, which is probably one of, if not the most impressive APS-C offering right now. If Sony is truly cutting back on APS-C development, that could explain the somewhat disappointing specs here.
Either that or this rumor and leak are completely bogus, and I have just spent that last few minutes rambling about absolutely nothing. The joys of a rumor mill junkie…
More Canon 1DX Mark II Rumors…
Another day, another small leak regarding Canon’s upcoming flagship update. This time we have two new rumor nuggets to share with you regarding Canon’s rumored 1DX Mark II.
If the latest rumor rumblings are correct, the new flagship camera will be capable of shooting 14 FPS in its highest burst mode. Which, when combined with the previously rumored 24MP sensor, make for some really impressive performance.
The other little nugget revealed in this rumor was that the rear LCD will be getting a big upgrade on this new 1DX Mark II. Specifically what is being upgraded about it – be it resolution, touch functionality, flippy screen, etc – is not known at this time. The safe bet would be just an increased resolution. Canon isn’t known for putting trendy features like touch or flippy screens in their high-end professional products.
Who knows, maybe Canon has decided change their ways. We won’t know for sure until the body is officially announced.
Latest Nikon Financial Results Better Than Expected…
Nikon’s latest financial report has been released by the company, and much to the surprise of many, the company did better than in Q1 last year. Interestingly, the company sold fewer cameras and lenses than last year, but the company says a weak yen pushed higher sales.
I honestly don’t really know enough about the financial business to really have an opinion either way. But the result of this report from Nikon was that its stock price increased, so it would seem that the financial types out there viewed this as a favorable report.
